Our Parish School of Religion provides several ways for our students to learn how to follow Jesus through service to others.
Soup kitchen project.
Each class in grades 1-8 learns first hand about helping others by making items for the soup kitchen. Parents are contacted with the specific information on items to donate and whether parent helpers are needed. This project includes age-appropriate lessons, scripture, discussion, prayer and the activity.
Empty Bowl Project
Students in grades 4-8 will paint bowls that will be used in a community event on Ash Wednesday to raise funds for the O’Fallon Food Pantry. Students are taught about serving others, while they paint the bowls during a PSR class in the fall.
Fifth-grade Adopt-a-Family Christmas Project
The fifth-grade class adopts a family for Christmas with the students taking an active role in this project to help a family in need. With their teacher and some parents as chaperones, the students work together to plan and shop for items the family would like for Christmas.
Kindergarten Shoebox Project
Kindergarten students helps children in need each year by filling shoeboxes with small toys, school supplies, candy, personal hygiene items, books, stickers and other items that children their age might like.
