One of the important ministries and roles in a parish is that of the “Trustee.” These two people are recommended by the pastor and appointed by the bishop. They work closely with the parish Finance Council and are co-signors with the pastor for any major financial items with the diocese.
One of our trustees, John Dempsey, has been serving in this role since 2014, and I am finally letting him ‘retire.’ Please join me in thanking John for his years of generous service. Some of you know John and his wife Jeanette who are involved in various ministries in the parish. John has worked so well with our other faithful Trustee, Mike Crupe.
I am pleased to announce that our new Trustee to take John’s place is Carl Lurk. Many of you know Carl from his dedicated leadership with our Oktoberfest. Carl and his wife Dawn joined St. Clare in 1998 after moving here from Carl’s hometown of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Dawn was raised in Shiloh. Carl explained that the importance of their faith led them to raise their two beautiful children at St. Clare and they have attended both the old and new St. Clare churches. They quickly got involved in various ministries of hospitality, marriage prep and raising funds for our new church. Carl, Dawn, Dylan and Cassidy have all volunteered at Oktoberfest and cherish the many friendships formed over the years through that ministry. Carl and Dawn are now empty nesters and enjoy traveling to visit their children. Carl has been involved in civic organizations and is currently a Senior Tax Director with Archford Accounting in Swansea. Carl asks for your prayers as he looks forward to serving as a trustee.
In gratitude for John, Mike, and Carl, as well as all of our great leaders at St. Clare,
Fr. Jim Deiters
