The holy season of Advent begins this weekend, which for us Catholics is the beginning of a new liturgical year. A new year is an opportunity for new ‘beginnings’ and fresh ideas about our personal and spiritual lives. As a parish, we begin our liturgical year with gratitude for all the graces God has bestowed on us as a community and in our personal lives.
The response to our campaign this first week has been so inspiring and encouraging for me as your pastor. Many parishioners have stepped forward with a pledge to show their commitment to God, the parish, and the future of the Catholic faith. Thank you!
On a spiritual level, consider what new ways you would like to improve your prayer life in this new year. I always encourage you to make time for Eucharistic Adoration which we offer every Tuesday night and also once a month for 24 hours. Quiet time in Adoration is such a powerful time to simply BE with God and let Him love you. Especially in the busy time of preparing for Christmas, quiet time in the church with God will do amazing things for your heart and soul.
I pray that this new year of grace will bless you in surprising ways of knowing God’s love and mercy for you and your family. May the same Holy Spirit that quietly came to Mary’s heart… find rest inside of you in a new way this Advent season.
