I want to extend an invitation to everyone—yes, each person in the parish!—to become a part of our liturgical ministry program. Serving in a liturgical ministry is a great way to deepen your participation in and understanding of the Sunday Mass. Next week, we will celebrate the Solemnity of Pentecost. Commitment cards will be turned in that weekend as we recall that the Holy Spirit has given each of us different gifts for the benefit of the Church. Ministry booklets and sign up cards are available in the Gathering Space.
These ministries are currently short-staffed… • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion • Ushers - female, male, young and not young!
• Children’s Liturgy of the Word Leaders – beginners welcome… for anyone who loves working with children.
• Nursery Leaders – all ages welcome, including grandmas who love children.
We currently have 475 people in our liturgical ministries; however, it takes 90 people every weekend to staff our liturgies. Many hands make light work!
Recommitment of Current Ministers
While everyone is encouraged to sign up for a new ministry, current ministers are asked to join their fellow parishioners on the weekend of Pentecost as we all turn in our cards at the Offertory. This action of commitment reminds us that our service is truly for the glory of God at the Sunday Eucharist.
Take a leap and sign up!
Some may talk themselves out of signing up by thinking that “other people will take care of that job.” Don’t wait for the next person – be that person…practicing generosity and faith.
