For my “First Mass,” the day after I was ordained a priest on June 1, 1991, my homily centered on the Magnificat hymn that Mary sang in praise of God’s blessings that echoed in my own heart of gratitude.
That same prayer is on my lips and in my heart this whole week as I think about the blessing that each of you is in my vocation as priest and your pastor here at St. Clare. Thanks so much to all of you who sent a card, offered a prayer, or expressed words of encouragement for my anniversary. I am humbled by your thoughtfulness and the privilege it is to serve as a priest for God.
My First Mass was on the Feast of Corpus Christi, so this feast has special meaning to me. I hope you are able to join us for our annual Corpus Christi procession after the 10:30 Mass this weekend. It is such a beautiful way to demonstrate our gratitude to God for the amazing gift of the Eucharist that feeds our body and soul on our journey to heaven.
