After Pentecost, we begin the Liturgical Season called “Ordinary Time,” which lasts until Advent. During this season, the Gospel focuses on ‘basic’ ways that we are to follow Jesus, which are anything but ‘ordinary’ as we live in an overly secular world.
During these summer months, our amazing choirs take some time off and the music is a bit simpler. I/we are SO grateful for the many volunteer parishioners who lift our spirits and prayer life through their music ministry in our choirs. Special thanks to the parents who have gotten their children involved in singing in the choir and as cantors.
During these months, we can remember that we who are in the pews are the main ‘choir’ giving praise to God. The Catholic documents on the liturgy call each of us to be active and engaged in all parts of the Mass…as each song and response are our ways of joining with the angels in heaven in worship of God. Even if you don’t know the tune of the song, follow along with the words and notice how powerfully they keep our focus on God and living the Gospel.
Thank you for your faithfulness and love of your Catholic faith.
God’s Peace,
Fr. Jim Deiters
Happy Father’s Day! Thanks to all of our dads who make sacrifices for their family, especially in keeping their children close to God and the sacraments.
Please note...Our daily Mass schedule has changed this week only. Mass will be held Monday through Friday at Noon. Please join us when you can!
