We now enter into this holy season that the Church calls “Ordinary Time”, which lasts until Lent (beginning on Ash Wednesday), February 22.
The universal Church will primarily be reading the Gospel of Matthew on Sundays (Mark on weekdays). Matthew invites us to consider all the connections between the Old (Hebrew) Testament and the life of Jesus so that we recognize Him as the long-awaited Messiah and stay committed as his disciples.
When I think of discipleship, I reflect on you, our faithful parishioners, who are working at implementing Jesus’ teachings into your daily life. Thank you for your witness to me. One way I see your discipleship in action is through your generosity.
Thanks so much to all of you who sent cards and gifts to me over the Advent/Christmas Season. And many of you gave extra donations to our parish at Christmas time that are so helpful for both our operating budget and debt reduction.
Thanks also to all who gave extra time in our parish ministries of music and art & environment decorating that made our Advent/ Christmas Seasons so prayerful and beautiful. The concert last Sunday night by all of our choirs and instrumentalists was so inspiring.
