At St. Clare, we are implementing an effort to be more intentional with the involvement of men in the ministries of our parish. In doing so:
Our Core Purpose is the formation of Catholic Men to deeply know and love God, and know their faith – to discern, learn, and then become, the man / husband / father God created them to be – living as His disciples, striving for holiness, and fully committed to helping transform their families, parishes, and communities.
We see Our Mission as:
Brothers in Christ: Serving God - Serving Others.
And we have discerned 7 Pillars in respect to what Catholic men need. They are:
1) A Personal Relationship With Christ
To deeply know God and strive for holiness with Him at the center of life – fully committed to being transformed.
2) Prayer
To develop a consistent, personal, prayer life; To pray as a family, and as a Church community.
3) Knowledge, Understanding & Wisdom
To deeply know our faith - what we believe & why we believe it; To be able to effectively share that faith.
4) Brotherhood
To develop strong Catholic friends, role models, & mentors; To have accountability.
5) Socialization
To have opportunities to socialize with other Catholic men and to form long-lasting, supportive, friendships with those other Catholic men.
6) To Serve God
To put faith into action, using talents and finances to help others; Transforming families, the parish, the community.
7) To Evangelize
To lead others to Christ - family, friends and co-workers; To know how to evangelize.
At St. Clare, we envision and want to nurture an intentional culture specific to men, that will be visibly evident to any other man coming into our parish. This culture, as we picture it, includes:
Visible Discipleship - where men, who each have a Personal Relationship with Christ, are proud to be Catholic and joyfully live out their Faith in ways that are unambiguous and in synergy with Fr. Jim and parish staff.
Commitment - Men who are committed to their Catholic faith, are Educated and Knowledgeable about that faith, and are Engaged and Active in the parish. Who are an Example to other men by their participation in Mass, Adoration, and Rosary, as well as by their active participation in the ministries of the parish. Men who arrive early for Mass and stay until the end.
Brotherhood - Structured and Orderly, where men are Spiritually Unwavering and always growing in Piety and Reverence. Men who set a high bar for themselves and other men, challenging each other to Holiness. They Pray for, Support, and are Accountable to each other.
Welcoming - Men who open their ‘Circle’ into a “Horseshoe”, and welcome other men with Love and Hospitality – to meet, know, and befriend each other. These men "work" the Gathering Space - greeting and interacting with other men and drawing new men into their conversations, their brotherhood, and their ministries.
At first, these might seem like lofty goals that we will never fully reach. In reality, the whole idea is to meet men where they are - wherever that may be - and help them discover a deeper, more meaningful relationship with Christ. This isn’t about checking off boxes or piling on guilt; it’s about building stronger Men - helping them to get to know God - and their faith - on a deeper, more personal level.
We want to open up opportunities for men to truly understand who God is calling them to be, a faithful man, a devoted husband, a caring dad, or maybe even a priest. It’s about actually living as disciples, aiming for holiness, and doing our part to shape stronger families, parishes, and communities. When it’s all said and done, we want men who put God at the center of their lives, working side-by-side with their Brothers in Christ and serving God by serving others.
St. Clare Men's Group: The St. Clare Men’s Group is a great place to plug in with other men. The Foundational component of this group meets in the Fellowship Hall on the 2nd Saturday of each month, from 8:00 a.m.—9:30 a.m. This is a chance for men to make friends and grow together in faith with learning, fellowship, prayer, and spiritual nourishment...plus donuts and coffee! No advanced preparation is required to attend. Optional Rosary in Blessed Sacrament chapel at 7:30 a.m.
