The Sacrament of Confirmation completes and seals a Catholic’s Baptism. But it is not the end of faith formation; it is an important step on a lifelong journey of faith. Through preparation for Confirmation and the sacrament itself, youth and adults develop a better understanding of the Catholic faith and a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ as they are strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
St. Clare of Assisi Parish provides a comprehensive two-year preparation program for youth. It is typically done during junior high, but also available to high school students. Youth wishing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation must be attending weekend Masses in our parish and St. Clare Catholic School, the Parish School of Religion or an approved home-school program, as well as participate in the parish’s Confirmation preparation program.
The first year of the program focuses on catechesis and living as disciples of Christ through service to others. The second year is a more intensive year of preparation through continued service, catechesis, retreats, study of their chosen saint name and faith-sharing activities with their sponsors and parents.
