It is with great pleasure that St. Clare Catholic School announces Mrs. Monica Ybarra has been selected as our next principal. Mrs. Ybarra comes to us from Holy Trinity Catholic School (HTCS), where she has served as Assistant Principal, STEM teacher, and Track coach. The Ybarra family attends Holy Trinity parish, and the Ybarra’s three boys attended HTCS. Mrs. Ybarra has more than 10 years of administrative and teaching experience between Catholic and public schools, and has been an innovative champion, starting keynote projects including a New Teacher Mentoring program and an Advisory Program supporting the social, emotional, and academic needs of middle school students. She led several technology initiatives and curriculum improvement projects, including a “Math Curriculum Pause” designed to connect students to real-world math applications through games and activities and also helped create a Belleville Diocesan Technology website to assist all the Diocesan schools with technology implementation. As a Catholic teacher and administrator, she brings her faith journey and our faith doctrine into the classroom as the foundation of our shared values upon which other academics are built. During the challenges of COVID, Mrs. Ybarra continued her education and obtained a Level Two Google Certification. She then used that training to help develop the Remote Learning Plan for HTCS, and subsequently collaborated with teachers, families, and students to create tailored learning conditions to meet unique challenges. Her strong sense of organization is balanced by a strong ability to grow respectful relationships that start with listening and extending grace to one another. Mrs. Ybarra holds a Bachelor of Science in Education, a Master of Arts in Educational Administration, has certifications and endorsements in multiple areas of education, and recently obtained a Gifted Education Micro-credential. We look forward to Mrs. Ybarra joining our school, and we are grateful for the years of faith-filled service and dedicated leadership Mrs. McKay provided.
