I want to extend an invitation to everyone—yes, each person in the parish!—to become a part of our liturgical ministry program. Serving in a liturgical ministry is a great way to deepen your participation in and understanding of the Sunday Mass. In two weeks, we will celebrate the Solemnity of Pentecost. Commitment cards will be turned in that weekend as we recall that the Holy Spirit has given each of us different gifts for the benefit of the Church.
These ministries are currently short-staffed… • Children’s Liturgy of the Word Leaders - Our program is “plug and play” for leader; very little preparation is needed! Have questions before committing? Get in touch with me!
• Nursery Leaders & Helpers
• Ushers - female, male, young and not young!
We currently have just over 400 people on our roster, however, it takes 80 people (nearly ¼ of our current roster) every weekend to staff our liturgies. Many hands make light work!
Recommitment of Current Ministers While everyone is encouraged to sign up for a new ministry, current ministers are asked to recommit to their current ministries, even if they don’t sign up for a new ministry. In two weeks during the offertory, everyone will bring up their cards and place them in a basket near the altar. Fr. Jim will raise up the basket as a part of our gifts of sacrifice. Whether we’ve served in a ministry for one year or one decade, this action of commitment reminds us that our service is truly for the glory of God at the Sunday Eucharist.
Take a leap and sign up! Some may talk themselves out of signing up by thinking that “other people will take care of that job.” As I’ve pointed out above, several ministries need your help! Don’t wait for the next person – be that person!
