To be transparent, but not cause fear, we want you to know that a parishioner who attended Mass on Saturday, July 11 at 5:00pm has tested positive for COVID-19. The parishioner was not exhibiting symptoms until the evening of Tuesday, July 14. The individual reported following all safety and health protocols during Mass, including social distancing and wearing a face covering. The person did not come into direct contact with anyone during Mass.
Out of an abundance of caution, if you or a family member attended this Mass, please watch for any COVID-19 symptoms for 14 days from July 11.
In the unlikely event you become symptomatic and receive COVID-positive test results, please contact the parish office at 618-632-3562 so we may maintain vigilance for the health of all parishioners. As is the case here, your identity will not be revealed to others.
If you do begin to display any symptoms, out of care for others, please do not return to church until the 14-day self-quarantine. And know that we will look forward to seeing you again in person when you return to good health.
St. Clare is Clean and Safe
In light of this situation, we want to assure you that our facility manager works diligently to keep our facilities clean and safe.
After every Mass, the gathering space, church nave, and sacristy are sprayed with a hospital-grade sanitizer.
The church nave and sanctuary floors are cleaned throughout the week with a disinfectant cleaner.
Bathrooms, entry vestibule, and sink in the sacristy are cleaned with a bleach solution throughout the week.
Door handles are wiped regularly with either Clorox wipes or sprayed with a disinfectant.
Carpeted areas are vacuumed regularly with a HEPA filter vacuum cleaner, in addition to the previously mentioned spraying.
Worship aids are disposable, not reused, and are distributed by greeters wearing gloves.
Masks and hand sanitizer are available and used by parishioners.
Together, let us join in praying for the recovery of our fellow parishioner and ask our Blessed Mother to protect us all from this illness.
