I meet people daily who tell me they “wish they had more time for prayer.” I always encourage them by suggesting to start with something small. But it takes discipline and commitment.
Try building prayer into your regular schedule with one of these suggestions:
Leave early for work and stop by our church for 15 minutes.
After dropping the kids off at school, stop by the church.
On weekends, come to Mass 30 minutes early and pray the Rosary with other parishioners who lead it for you.
Set aside Tuesday nights at 6 PM for Eucharistic Adoration.
Create some space in your home that reminds you to sit down and pray each morning.
On your way home from work, find some park to stop by and pray.
For us Catholics, the month of October especially highlights the Rosary as a beautiful form of meditation on Jesus’ and Mary’s life. If you are still new to praying the Rosary or have forgotten how, there are plenty of resources online and on the kiosk in our Gathering Space to help get you started. For families, try praying just one decade a night to help the children learn how to pray.
Prayer…deepens our relationship with God. Like any other relationship in our life, a friendship with God will only deepen if we make time for it.
