St. Clare Parish Centers Itself in the Holy Eucharist
On this annual feast of the Body and Blood of Christ, Catholics around the world renew their commitment to our belief in the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. In a world of skepticism and secular doubts about ‘reality,’ we have an opportunity to boast to others about the most “real” gift that God has given to us – the Body of Christ to eat so that we can be filled with God’s Love and Mercy.
I want to encourage you to have more regular conversations with family and friends about what the Eucharist means to you and how it blesses your life. To inspire you to do this, we are passing out a branch of wheat to each household this weekend as a ‘sacramental’ to stimulate the conversation about the Eucharist in your home. In your home, each person takes a turn holding the wheat and sharing with others how the Eucharist helps your mind, heart, or soul.
It is up to us adults to help our young people really understand and believe in this great gift…in which Jesus Himself says, “The one who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink.”
Thank you for your faithfulness to the Eucharist,
Fr. Jim Deiters
