Summer is a great time for relaxing, vacationing, and family gatherings. I want to encourage our parents and grandparents to do everything they can to be an example to our children of keeping God at the center of our lives, going to Mass each Sunday even during these vacation months. If you do travel out of town, be sure to look up a Catholic church and Mass times at the convenient website
“www.masstimes.org”
Please remember your parish tithe if you are away anytime this summer. We offer these convenient options: online using our direct deposit or WeShare options or by mailing your envelope to our office. We need your donations even during the summer!
ON ANOTHER NOTE…How to dress for Mass
This is the time of year when our parishioners start to ask me to say something about the ‘summer attire’ at Mass. I realize this is a sensitive subject for some people and I do not want to offend anyone. While I will not say what to wear, and no one will be judged by me, I would like to remind everyone that Mass is a “Wedding Feast of the Lamb of God.” While God always accepts us “as we are,” dressing up for Mass is a sign of reverence and respect for the very Presence of God at Mass.
As I have written before, while what you wear may feel just fine for you, try to think about whether it helps others pray and adds to knowing we are in a very special place. If going to a picnic or sport event after Mass, please feel free to change into ‘picnic attire’ after Mass in one of our restrooms. Again, I will not get into what to wear and not wear…but let’s all do our best to keep Mass special by how we dress for God’s wedding banquet.
Thanks to all of you who make a commitment to weekly Sunday Mass and regular tithing…even in ‘vacation mode.’
