For those who are relatively new to our parish, here at St. Clare we have two campuses.
Here, where we gather on our beautiful 20-acre hill for our weekly worship and minis[1]tries, and our other buildings are in downtown O’Fallon, which include the rectory, our great school, prayer garden, Oktoberfest field, and school chapel. The school chapel was our previous parish church, serving us since 1890.
When we moved into our new church in 2007, even though it was in bad shape, we decided to keep our old church for the school children’s prayer. Gradually over the years we have been making repairs on the chapel, including such things as a new HVAC, new roof and tuckpointing. I am so happy to share with you that this summer we are finally able to repair and paint all the original wooden frames to the windows. This is only possible with the very generous, donated help of some of our own parishioners. Led by Mark Huller, faithful volunteers, Bruce Rackers and others have assisted Mark, including his wife, Mary Huller. You can see the big difference on the windows now finished on the south (alley) side, compared to the street side which they will begin this week.
When you drive over to see the improvements, make time for some quiet prayer reflection in our peaceful Stations of the Cross Garden inside the gate, maintained by volunteers like the Ingebretsen family, Margaret, Dave, Carl, Katherine, Jack and Clara! It takes a lot of volunteers and generous donations to keep it all going…so THANK YOU!
